The Interface You Open Is Part of the Application
Chat windows, upload buttons, history records, file downloads, and connection settings typically belong to the application. The application calls the model to process input, and may also be equipped with search, file generation, or other tools.
Therefore, "this application can generate PPTs" and "this model can generate a PPT outline" are different descriptions. An application can combine multiple models and tools, and the same model may appear in different applications.
Distinguishing Responsibilities with a Lesson Preparation Task

These steps can be consolidated within a single product or may need to be completed separately. When making judgments, focus on actual functionality and results, not on interface names.
Four Questions to Verify Before Use
Can it receive my materials? Can it perform this operation? Can it deliver the required format? Can it verify the final product?
For example, an environment that only accepts text and lacks file tools can help organize lecture outlines; delivering editable presentations still requires corresponding file functionality. Having a tool available but failing to execute it doesn't count as having a usable result for this task.
Going a Step Further
Applications may also filter materials, manage history and memory, determine tool visibility, and perform confirmations and permission checks. What the model actually receives this time is jointly influenced by these mechanisms.
These features vary by product and configuration. Seeing "supports MCP" still requires verifying connection methods, service capabilities, and authorization conditions—it doesn't mean all external systems are accessible.
